Camp Miakonda was certainly FULL this weekend!
-The Camp Miakonda Parking Lot was FULL, but we had a shuttle bus to Stranahan Elementary with plenty of parking
-The Cabins were FULL, but we had plenty of tent space available
-The Registration area was FULL of Cub Scouts checking in and picking up their patches, but the lines moved fast
-The Obstacle Course was FULL, but the Rubber Snakes and Spiders only ate a few Cub Scouts
-The Camp was FULL of Boy Scouts and Scouters running the activity stations, and preparing the camp for service
-The New BB Gun Range was FULL of Cub Scouts plinking at cans, and hearing tales of great hunts on the African Plains
-The Archery range was FULL of Cub Scouts, nocking arrows and taking names
-The BMX course was FULL of Cub Scouts running the hills at high speed and making stripes up their shirts in the puddles
-The Scout Cars were FULL of Cub Scouts, who's view out the windshield made for a white knuckle ride down the hill
-The Scout Shop was FULL of Cub Scouts getting their Scout Uniforms, books, and souvenirs
-The Trading Post was FULL of Cub Scouts getting their snacks, drinks, and craft items
-The Museum was FULL of Cub Scouts learning about Camp Miakonda's rich history
-The Fire Ring was FULL of Cub Scouts hunting for tinder and kindling to start fires
-The Rope Bridge was FULL of Cub Scouts doing a death defying high wire act 3 feet off the ground
-The Compass Course was FULL of Cub Scouts navigating the parade field at great speed
-The Games and Crafts were FULL of young Cub Scouts creating artistic masterpieces and challenging each other to games
-The Cub Scouts were FULL of 200 pizzas, 530 hot dogs, 300 whomp biscuits, and 1050 bags of Trails End Popcorn
-The Campfire was FULL of enthusiasm and new Camp Record for the Wave, songs and skits
-The Procession from the Chapel to the Council Ring was FULL of Order of the Arrow members in full Indian Regalia carrying Torches
-The Chapel was FULL and standing room only with Cub Scouts singing and dancing in the aisles
Best of all, Camp Miakonda at the Devilbiss Scout Reservation was FULL OF THE CUB SCOUT SPIRIT!
The quote of the day:
"I lost my son because things went so seamlessly after the service at the chapel with the procession, that he never knew the religious service was over and the next event was starting, so he didn't go to our agreed to meeting place after the chapel service"
(He was quickly located sitting in the council ring at the campfire when we called his name)
Seamless, that's not one of those words you hear every day about a Scouting event!
Thanks for making this a great event. Ya'll come back again next year!
Yours In Scouting,
-Clif
